CROWNS & BRIDGES
Crowns are like caps used to restore badly broken
down teeth. Not all broken teeth need crowns.
A Bridge is two crowns with an artificial tooth
in the Middle and are used to replace missing
teeth. Bridges are also called fixed partial dentures,
they are fixed to teeth.
Crowns & Bridges are considered to be advanced
treatment. Crown bridge work requires an average
of 3-5 visits :
1. Impression & Evaluation & and to make
temporary crown or bridge
2. Preparing the teeth for Crown or bridge, Impression
& Placement of Temporary Crown or bridge
3. Delivery of crown & Bridge
Second step is the longest and most tedious, that
can be done over a number of visits depending
on the case.
The dentist must make a temporary crown or bridge
to allow normal function of the mouth in between
visits before delivering the permanent crown or
bridge.
An average life span of crowns & bridges in 5 years
and it may last for 10 - 15 years depending on the
cleanliness around the prosthesis by the patient.
